John Lutterman

Cellist and musicologist John Lutterman has given solo performances throughout Europe and America, and has performed with the Wiener Akademie, Salzburger Hofmusik, Philharmonia Baroque, the American Bach Soloists and El Mundo. He holds a DMA in cello performance from Stony Brook University, as well as the Ph.D. in historical musicology from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Lutterman’s Post-doctoral work includes studies with Nicolaus Harnonourt at the Mozarteum, Christophe Coin at the Scola Cantorum, and Jaap ter Linden at the Royal Conservatory, the Hague. His research focuses on relationships between notation, compositional theory, and historical improvisatory practices. He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, where he directs America’s Northernmost period instrument orchestra and viol consort.
